Who Run RVA?: Matt Lawton
Matt Lawton pro-style QB who stars in a pro-style offense. He could be the right choice to run your offense next year.
He appears to have command of his sets and is making the most of his talent. He has a nice arm and throws deep with touch. He has a clean overhand delivery, with no noticeable hitch in his motion. He throws a catchable ball; often leading his receivers and giving them an opportunity to run after the reception.
Play-action is where he excels. He utilizes polished ball fakes to freeze the secondary and throws with accuracy on the run. Whether moving or in a stable pocket, he sets his feet and steps into his throws.
Lawton is not afraid to test the interior of a defense, completing many of his passes down the seam. He does though, have a tendency to test double coverage. He will want to be wary of this moving forward.
As a Junior, Lawton led his Thomas Dale team to a 9-5 record. Making it to the 4th round of the playoffs before being knocked off by a formidable Oscar Smith squad.
Polished, Leader, Temperament, Smooth.
Under-sized. Lacks film to display ability to make ALL next level throws, i.e, deep outs, posts, flags etc.
