Rykim Lemon has become a leader on one of the top teams in Baltimore City this season. The shifty senior running back and corner back has come up big with making plays and he makes sure his team is focus every time they step out onto the football field.
Through four games for the Mustangs, Lemon has scored four touchdowns and is approaching 500 rushing yards.
Mervo (3-1) travels out-of-state this week as the Mustangs head to Ohio to take on Robert A. Taft HS.
The Ricardo Report’s Tom Peace caught up with Lemon to get his thoughts on the 2017 season and where the senior from Baltimore City wants to do in the future.
Q&A w/ Mervo RB/CB Rykim Lemon
Tom Peace: How does it feel to get a couple wins under your belt to start the season?
Rykim Lemon: Honestly , It feels great To start the Season off with a 3-0 record but We’re not going to let it go to our heads, Me & my team are staying humbled.
TP: What makes the Mervo offense so good?
RL: What makes our offense so good , is that we don’t just rely on a few players to make plays we have many athletes that can ball.
TP: Who are some of the pro or college players that you admire?
RL: In the league, I would say I admire Lesean McCoy , Jimmy Smith , Patrick Peterson , Adrian Peterson , Reggie Bush , Tarik Cohen , Joe Haden, Damontae Kazee & Donnel Pumphrey, both out of San Diego State. They’re both rookies in the league but they’re my 2 main athletes they will be great in the NFL very soon. It’s a lot of players I admire, but they’re the main ones that first come to my mind.
TP: How important is it for the entire offense to play great every time on the field?
RL: It’s important for everyone on both offense & defense to play great because we can’t take things for granted we never know when our last play Of football will be so every time we have to give it all we got. Not to Mention , we have to win every game because it’s very tough to make the playoffs in 4a, so we have to play hard so we could win every game & qualify for playoffs.
TP: What are you currently listening to on your ITunes?
RL: I listen to on iTunes Lor Cuddy , Skola , Young Moose G herbo , lil durk , Kodak , NBA Youngboy , Meek Mill , Blac Youngsta , Moneybag Yo , lol man I listen to a lot of hip hop Artists I listen to R&B sometimes also.
TP: Anyone ever give you good advice? And what was it?
RL: Yes I done received many great Advice from people , & one of the main one Somebody gave me was to Stay focus in school , Show my Talent On field , don’t let anything distract you from chasing your Goals and Think smart use my mental.
TP: Where do you see yourself playing college football?
RL: I see myself playing D1 , D1aa , or D2 I have many schools interests from all those divisions I’m just waiting on the right school to for me to offer & give me a shot at the next level , I have 0 offers right now.
TP: Chipotle or Qdoba?
RL: I heard Qdoba good but I never had it yet , so I can’t really compare, but Chipotle is good.
TP: How does it feel playing for one of the top teams in the city?
RL: It feels legendary because Mervo was never a top team in the city at all , but now that we got the juice. And it started from when I was a freshman to now. It feels great we’re building a great program over here. It’s very physical & competitive but we’re underrated,
TP: What is it like playing HSFB in Baltimore City?
RL: We have some great players here in Baltimore City , it’s hard to make it out of Baltimore. Many colleges look past the city schools, not knowing we have talent in the city just as much in private or county schools.
