Ben Cuellar is a Pro-Style Quarterback presently running the offense of the NoVa War Eagles. What has impressed me most about him has been his poise, his steady demeanor and his knack to come up big in the most important moments.
Last week, while playing a tough DMV Academy team, Cuellar got his team on the board early by way of QB sneak. Each time the Academy attempted to take control of the game, Cuellar came up with a big throw that seized momentum and placed it back in the hands of his War Eagles.
Though he was impressive all game, Cuellar saved his best for last. In the 4th quarter, Ben was magical. Trailing late, and with all the pressure on, he led his team on a long drive. He was able to make every big throw when they mattered the most; a feat rarely seen at this level. With mere moments left in the game, the ball inside the 5 yard line and his stud Running Back sidelined with an injury, Cuellar put the War Eagles on his shoulders and used another quarterback keeper to score the game winning touchdown. NoVa walked away victoriously, and perhaps the most rewarding thing about it… it was his birthday.
