Droppin’ Dimes in the 301: Spence Silverstein
Spence Silverstein has the potential to develop into one of the top Quarterback recruits in the state of Maryland. With his length and arm talent, his measurables check the boxes most collegiate coaches are looking for.
Silverstein throws a catchable ball with accuracy, often allowing his receivers to run with it after the catch. He throws the deep ball with touch while efficiently connecting on intermediate and short routes as well. Spence moves well and is effective on bootlegs and roll out passes, consistently squaring his shoulders and setting his feet before release. Silverstein slides and manipulates the pocket in order to buy time, all the while keeping his eyes downfield, and he is not afraid to stand-in and take a hit when need be.
Last season was a magical year for Silverstein and the Richard Montgomery Rockets. He was able to play with an experienced receiving corp--one that it appeared as though he was in sync with. They often made the same reads which allowed Silverstein to throw the ball to spots and know they would be there. With a bevy of playmakers, he was also able to put up some 50/50 balls and trust his guy would come down with it. As he continues to grow and develop, it will be paramount that he builds the same rapport with this season's receivers. His vision, anticipation and ability to diagnose situations are amongst his strong suits. The ability to stay on the same page with his targets may be the key to RM's success.
