Teradja Mitchell is one of the top student athletes in the nation. He is highly touted and big time college coaches are clamoring for his services. But what you may not know, is that he is also a tremendous young man.
Chad Ricardo: Teradja, it’s an honor to go 1v1 with a student athlete such as yourself. I have to tell you, I have the opportunity to study and communicate with some of the best of the best across the nation. To meet a young man who holds himself to the same high standards off and on the field is special. Keep doing what you’re doing. That said, you’re one of the top recruits in the nation. In my opinion, you’re hands down the top Linebacker on the east coast. An individual doesn’t make it to this level of success on accident. What drives you towards greatness? What motivates you to keep climbing higher and higher?
Teradja Mitchell: My drive in my life is my father, he’s taught me that you have to work for everything. Also, I have cousins that have either played in the NFL or are currently still playing. I’ve seen the lifestyle they have the opportunity to lead. That’s a goal! Lol.
Chad Ricardo: I bet it is bruh! You come from a long line of savages, I see. I want to talk about YOU for a moment. Everyone knows the ballplayer you are on the field, but to my understanding, you’re also a phenomenal young man off of it. I spoke to Coach Scott, and he raved about your leadership qualities amongst others. Beyond being a top-talent football player, what else do you want people to know about who Teradja Mitchell is?
Teradja Mitchell: I’m very humble and I love helping others and I’m a student before football . Grades are IMPORTANT.
Chad Ricardo: You got that right! Man, you should be mentoring younger student athletes all across the 757! Keep that in mind for later. On the field, you’re fast, strong, athletic and an excellent tackler. What other traits and skills do you have that allow you to be so successful between the lines?
Teradja Mitchell: I’m great at anticipating what direction the ball is going.
Chad Ricardo: Instincts. Never studied a great LB who didn’t have them, and more importantly, didn’t trust them. You started your high school career at Bayside. Was it difficult to leave there and what made Bishop Sullivan the right choice for you?
Teradja Mitchell: Yes it was a little difficult. I wasn’t expecting change or anything like this to happen. But I made the right decision to better myself both athletically and academically.
Chad Ricardo: Setting yourself up for the future. Planning ahead. That’s a good look. Speaking of the #CRU, you’re now on a team that has stars at every level; Khalan Laborn, Tahj Capehart, Tank Land, Tylan McElhenie, Jake Low, Noah Knapp, Archie Callahan, the Gaddy brothers…and that’s just naming a few of them. What’s it like to play with a squad full of savages? Does it make you raise your game to another level?
Teradja Mitchell: It’s a blessing. Iron sharpens iron! Bettering myself everyday playing with the best!
Chad Ricardo: Yea, those intersquad scrimmages are probably LIT! The level of competition within the team will definitely serve you all well moving forward. This year At Bishop Sullivan, you all are playing a heck of a schedule this season, are you excited to be playing some of the best teams in the nation and what date do you have circled on your calendar?
Teradja Mitchell: The 2 biggest games in my opinion are Liberty Christian and IMG . We play Liberty Christian Aug 26 , first time we get to prove ourselves and show people what we really are about . And the IMG game is a statement game for us to let the COUNTRY know the Bishop Sullivan is a powerhouse team.
Chad Ricardo: I Love It! Here’s the million dollar question; all the big time head coaches are at home, reading this and taking notes. When it comes time for you to start seriously considering schools, what will you look for in your college of choice?
Teradja Mitchell: A school that can coach me up to put me in the league along with a great business program with great connections.
Chad Ricardo: Always looking to improve. Good answer. Last question: You’ve accomplished much already and undoubtedly have a lot further to go. No one though makes it to this point on their own. Who has had the greatest influence on helping you become the young man you are today and if they’re reading this right now, what do you have to say to them?
Teradja Mitchell: My grandma who’s now deceased . And my father they’ve always taught me to be respectful and that nothing is given in this world but everything is earned. They’ve made me who I am today
Chad Ricardo: You’re a heck of a football player, and an even better young man. I wish you health, happiness, success and nothing less. Teradja Mitchell, Thank you brother!
